The love you left behind is a hand felted tapestry depicting the entangled story between love and grief. Inspired by the famous quote “Grief is the price you pay for love” - Elizabeth II.
In the tapestry we are faced with two more of Livia’s recurring autobiographical characters taking us on this complex personal yet universal journey. Inspired by folklore, tarot and superstitions, the tapestry is filled with hidden symbols and meaning, open for us to depict and interpret.
Water being one of the most recurring symbols in Livia’s worlds is once again at the forefront of this story. Based on the celtic myth of the otherworld, where the dead and deities exist, it is believed that this parallel world is reachable through portals in rivers and lakes.
The couple in the field, takes us into a world where the abundance of love left behind from grief, searches for a place to land. Where one love goes, a new love blossoms, growing from its inevitable ephemeral quality. Tl m
